So you want to become a dog sports photographer, eh? That's great! We all love our dogs, and we are proud of what our (disc)dogs can do. Whether you want to memorialize your friend when he is no longer with you, show others how cute your new puppy is or what a great backvault your dog can do; there are many reasons to take pictures of them. Not only is it fun to watch your photos, it can be fun to take pictures too!
Cameras are very affordable these days, and unlike those old analog cameras our grandparents might still have, they work fully automatically. Push the button, and there is your picture. Easy as pie. Everyone knows how to push the shutter button on top of the camera, but there is much more to photography than to taking pictures. Most cameras have far more buttons than the shutter button, and there is a reason to it. Using your camera in the Manual mode gives you the opportunity to create the image you want, in stead of the image that the camera wants. Knowing the function of every setting might be a challenge at first, but if you know what to do with the shutterspeed, aperture and ISO, that will be a good start. So switch off the autopilot and take control!
